Super Aguri are set to undertake a restructuring of staff over the next few weeks that will result in a streamlining of their operation.

The Leafield-based team enjoyed a stronger than expected 2007 season, finishing ninth in the constructors’ championship, but the outfit are looking to cut back on staffing numbers for next year to secure their financial future.

The team’s budget this year was hit badly after major sponsor SS United failed to make promised payments. That matter is currently being dealt with in the courts.

With Super Aguri poised to run customer Honda chassis next year, which will require less staff than if they developed their own car, plus the need to bolster their financial situation, the team are preparing for what could be up to 30 redundancies.

It is understood that no decision has yet been made about which staff will be cut, but the team have vowed to help find alternative employment within Honda Racing and other teams for those who will be affected.
